The texts of the present paper compose the program of my Ph.D. research on the theory of architectural design, titled “Architectural Design and its Space of Inscription” (ETSAB, 2014). My Ph.D. research originates in the study of the written traces of architectural thought; focuses on the lines and words of design, on what is defined as the double writing of architectural design. The doctoral thesis argues that there is a medium that opens up from the first written traces of architectural design where lines and words are essentially inscribed, one that is defined as the space of inscription. The paper discusses the starting point of the research (phenomenon in question); the interpretative horizon of the research (space of inscription); and, finally, the method of structuring the material of this research (in the form of glossary) and the way of writing the text of the doctoral thesis.
