Metal Canopy, Protypo Preparatory School | Continuous L Profile
Canopy dimensions: 4.11×1.01 m. The main load bearing structure, a 50×5 mm equal angles steel flat, defines the morphology of the metal canopy. As a closed stroke which unfolds in the three dimensions of space with a total length of 13.58 m, it departs at an angle from the rigid, vertical plane of the wall, it extends outwards and it finally turns parallel to it. On this parallel, five brackets are mounted (50×5 mm cross-braced steel flats), which lock into place with the help of four forks (10×10 mm square steel profile): a clear reference to the capabilities of the modular connection of the load bearing structures.
Supports required for the secure mounting of the canopy on the plastered stone wall are part of or clearly derive from the closed course of the angular steel flat in space. The linked load bearing structures (the main load bearing structure, the secondary brackets and the supporting structures) form a platform on the upper side: a receiving plane for a pair of translucent safety glass panels.
